>So, recently my nieces turned “tween”, that weird age between kid and teen, not quite the teen angst, but not the kid tantrums. This is when it starts getting hard to get them gifts. Luckily they are girls so I designed them shirts. I didn’t want to copy Justice, but I did use them as inspiration (they LOVE that store, like so many other tweens out there)
Did you know Old Navy is selling plain tees? Not only are they about $5 a piece, they were on sale 50% off, so I snagged these in the girl’s sizes and grabbed 2 for my daughter, only she isn’t big enough for them yet, so we’ll have to wait.
Anyway, here they are:
Front: Sewn on applique, and the rest freezer paper stenciled, personalized with her name (spelled correctly, which before she opened her gift she was complaining about how no one spelled it right)
And back: I bought the image from Silhouette, and took out the peace sign to make the applique on the front.
And for my other niece: Her middle name is Shine, so this idea was perfect (and yes, I used a little of the glitter paint by the tag, I wanted to see how it would look before I started) The glitter is fabric paint that I freezer paper stenciled, and the white is the transfer paper stuff for the silhouette.
And the back: K- for her first initial. She ended up wearing it that day, and it looks ADORABLE!
I got the BEST compliment, their grandmother asked me where I got the personalized stuff for them (I also made their Christmas Sweatshirts which I’m told they love and wear all the time for Gymnastics) Yep, she thought I had bought them special.

>Those look great! I like how they are personalized but not too maychy-matchy. So glad they were a hit!
>Those are really cute! Your lines are so straight and neat – not so much like my freezer paper shirts
PS – Is Old Navy still selling shirts for $5? Was that just in the girl sizes or did they also have some for adults?
>As the Mom of two girls I love these! Especially how you incorporated their names into the designs. Very clever!
